Attached are the Philmont documents we’ve used in the past. The first attachment, “Philmont Document Guide”, provides an explanation of the other documents. It helps to know how to navigate them as you look for gear or try to come up to speed on what is necessary for Philmont. Use these resources as you gather equipment for the Philmont trek.

Bee Branch Trail
The Bee Branch Trail, located in the Sipsey Wilderness within Bankhead National Forest is featured in the Alabama Hiking Guide (http://www.amazon.com/Hike-Alabama-Alabamas-Greateast-Adventures/dp/0762...), and looks like it would be a terrific trail for Philmont practice, as well as just a fun hike.

A required part of the Venture Patrol is a training hike, which we typically do at Monte Sano State Park. We will be doing this hike for those who are seeking entrance to the Venture Patrol on Saturday morning, May 9th at 7:45AM. Here are the guidelines for the hike:
Venture Patrol Training Hike
We will be having a Venture Patrol training hike next Saturday, January 24 at Monte Sano State Park at 8AM. This is a requirement for being in the Venture Patrol, so ALL scouts who are planning on going to Sea Base need to participate as well as those who are not going to Sea Base but want to complete this requirement for VP. We prefer to do the hike only on Saturday, but if anyone absolutely cannot make it that day we can schedule another hike on Sunday the 25th.
