4. I would like to encourage all of you to attend the National Scouting Jamboree. But for the purposes of this merit badge, you will write the National Scouting Museum in 4B. You can easily do this by sending them an email. They should send you a packet of information about the museum. With your parents permission, look around on their website to learn more about the museum. Remember, its your museum too, and your participation in scouting continues to write the history of scouting for future generations.

5. We did this at our first meeting when Mr. Bill Yell and Mr. Seigfreid Wendland came to talk about our troop's history. Yes, your troop has a history! I hope you took good notes, because there is a REPORT that is needed for this requirement. We will display this report at the December Court of Honor. You will need to work together to decide how you would like to present the report to the troop. Exhibit, oral presentation, powerpoint slideshow, etc.

6. Patch collections! I love patches and hope you do too! At our next meeting, Nov. 1, I will show you how to photograph and/or scan your patches and we will begin to build a database of patches. You may have only one patch, or many, just bring them in for us to look at. With their permission, you can bring in patches from your father, brother, grandfather or neighbor. Lets work toward a patch display for the December Court of Honor.

7. We played Kim's Game at our first meeting. If you like, there is another game I can teach you on Nov. 1. Make sure that you teach these games to your patrol.

8. Here is the plan to help you with this requirement. We will go to a nursing home or assisted living facility and meet men who were once a scout. But remember, once a scout, always a scout! They will have great stories for you! We need to begin planning this now. I would like to hear your ideas. We could might could do a skit night, sing Christmas carols, help them make smore's at a campfire, show scout skills like knot tying, first aid, etc. Tell me your ideas by email or at our scout meetings between now and Nov. 1.

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. Kelton
