For this campout, our boys will be going back in time 110 years to 1899. Col Baden-Powell is surrounded by enemy forces in the town of Mafeking. He is in desperate need of supplies and information. All 5 of our patrols will be tasked with getting through enemy lines to Mafeking. They will have to use all of their Scout skills in order to have a successful mission. Fortunately, for the purposes of this exercise, Mafeking is located on Redstone Arsenal near the civilian camp sites (see attached maps). Our latest weather briefing indicates that we will experience temperatures in the low 40's to 60's with a possibility of showers on Saturday. Please dress appropriately and be prepared. Each Scout should bring $10, a two liter plastic drink bottle, and a tennis ball. Each Patrol will need the following equipment:
2-Compasses
2-4ft Staves
1-blanket
1-map
2-pencils
1-clipboard
1-notebook
1-patrol flag on mast
1-scout book
2-20ft lengths of rope
1-first aid kit with ace bandage.
1-tinder
We will meet at the Church at 3:00 PM on Friday and leave for camp by 3:30. We will return to the Church by 3:30 PM on Saturday.
Yours in Scouting,
Mr. Spivey
