To people I gave flyers to at the last troop meeting,
Thanks so much for all your help! Please let me know if you and your buddy distributed the flyers I gave you if you have not already. If you do not respond I will assume you did not distribute them. If you have received coats and blankets and I do not know about it, please let me know you have them and bring them to the meeting this Tuesday.
To the the people who had to change the dates on the flyers because they could not do the pick up today,
I will let you know if anyone responds to the flyers you distributed. Then just bring the donations you receive in on the next after you collect Tuesday.
To everyone,
Right now, Operation Antifreeze has about 100 coats, 20 blankets, and 12 pairs of gloves gathered for the Downtown Rescue mission. We are about two thirds of the way to the goal of coats (150 coats) but only about a twentieth of the way toward blankets (100 blankets). Since the flyer method did not seem as effective as I hoped, I am currently working getting some other more effective methods to acquire coats and blankets. One method that you can work right now if you like is to spread word about the coat and blanket drive via word-O-mouth. For example, you could talk to your friends and family and it and see if any of them would like to donate coats and blankets. Also, at the meeting this Tuesday I will have a bunch of large boxes. If I could get some people to take one each and leave it at their church, that would be amazing! I will talk to you all about the details of this, this Tuesday. One last thing, I am thinking of setting up times at like Wall Mart and Lowes for scouts to collect money that we can use to purchase coats and blankets. It is possible to get good, used coats and blankets at thrift stores for under $4.00 dollars each. But again, more on this later. Those are just some of my idea's. Thanks again for everyone's help!
Be Prepared,
Christian Knapp
