As of June 1, all adults in scouting must receive the online training, and the record of their training must be turned in as part of their application. Youth Protection training is valid for two years.

Regarding United Way of Madison County: will probably change status with UW to "designee only". May even completely remove ourselves from UW of Madison County.

Autumn Adventure - cancelled, due to health and job situations. Mr. Yell contacted all. Philmont has agreed to transfer our deposits to our crews for next year. Troop Treasurer needs to issue refunds. Ken Smith will be handling Philmont 2011. There are some (3-4) Youth slots left for 2011.

Website - Mr. Sharples and Mr. Yell cleaned up the website. We will try to put a picture on the front page.

To all: If you are leading an event, put something on the website. There are no upcoming events on the front page.

Summer Camp post mortem:
Thanks to:
Tim - for chief scoutmaster
Ken - for Eagle Bound
all the dads who went and stayed all week.
Thanks to those who pulled trailers.

We had 52 full-time kids, 1 part-time kid. 14 FTE dads, 17 total made an appearance. 10-15 parents and ~10 siblings came on family night.

Positives:
Load-up went well. It was better to do it on Saturday a.m. It helped having two trailers.
The quality of instruction for Eagle Bound seemed to be a good step above what it was last time.
John Hand did a great job with leadership, despite the fact that they were in two different campsites.

Negatives:
We had two campsites.
A knife-pulling incident.
Some of the scouts were playing with fire, lighters, lighter fluid, bug spray. One of the boys burned some hair off his chest.
It was hard getting the group there all at once.
Some of the boys were abusing KP, realizing that if they could get KP first, they could eat first.
We should reinforce the patrol method. The only thing they did by patrol was line up for meals. They should house together and do other things together, perhaps diverse service projects. Perhaps ice cream per patrol.
Major chigger problem.

Next Year
Next year, we signed up for Chigger Ridge. Equivalent week to this year. This is the same week as when we're at Philmont. The offenders had to clean the latrine for the rest of the week.

Next year, don't bring aerosols. We need to address personal lighters.

Next year, sign up for service project right away.

OA Election Needed
We need to do an OA election as soon as possible. Mr. Yell suggests that we do it in two weeks. We can even submit the names of the Northern Tier guys who are eligible. BTW, you need to make it clear that you can vote for more than one candidate. Mr. Yell requested that Mr. Spivey submit the names of those going to NT who are not already in the OA. Mr. Yell suggests 7/27 as the week for OA elections. That met approval of the committee. We need an adult OA rep. Mr. Kelton is recommended, but he is not here.

Plan for this month: Camp Jackson 30-31 July. An adult is needed to lead this. We need a tour permit and access to the camp. (Scout office is closed all this week.) Ken Smith? NOTE: If we coordinate with them, we can use their canoes.

Plan for August: ?? Maybe Walls of Jericho.

Plan for September: USS Alabama. 10-11 September. We spend one night on the boat and then a night on Dauphin Island. They'll do a class for us if we get in touch with the SeaLab folks ahead of time (Oceanography). You can also go to Ft. Gaines. (Cit. Nation)

Plan for October: Shiloh.

Plan for November: Camporee at Jackson

Merit Badge Counselor List: Mr. Ericcson is volunteering to take care of that. Mr. Yell can do the training.

Wood Badge: 17-19 September at Comer, then 15-17 October at Jackson.

Backpacking weekend for adults only will be set up in the Fall. Adults and older boys who've been to Philmont. Possibly up the AT or Savage Gulf or something like that. Possibly early November.

There are two crews headed for Northern Tier. Doug Taylor and Reggie Spivey are the leaders. We need your prayers. This is going to be a good long trip. Mr. Spivey: I'm sure I'm forgetting something.
